To catch everyone up to date here is a quick run down.
Amanda turned 7 this year and started the 2nd grade in August. She has an awesome teacher who is challenging, and also makes learning fun. Amanda is also still involved in Girl Scouts as a Brownie. At the beginning of December her troop was in the city parade, they were real troopers to walk the mile route in the freezing cold. Amanda is getting regular visits from the tooth fairy as she is loosing teeth left and right. Once the tooth fairy forgot to visit! Oops!(but she doubled her payment for her error)
Matthew turned 4 this year and started pre-school. He was very excited to start since he can go to school now! He really wanted to go to Amanda's school but will have to wait until next year. Over the summer Matthew and Amanda took swim lessons. Poor Matthew would not get in the water unless he held onto his teacher and clung to her like an octopus. Turned out he was afraid he couldn't touch the bottom of the pool, once he realized he could he was off swimming. Over Thanksgiving break Matthew learned how to ride his bike without training wheels! He had be asking daddy to take them off for weeks, but when they finally came off he took off without any help. Daddy had barely taken the training wheels off and he was already at the corner.
Tyler turned 2 this year the terrible 2's. Well maybe not that terrible. Tyler learned how to talk and run this year. Not much scares him, except heights, he rode down the stairs on his riding car, escaped through the fence with my sister's dog, knows the steps involved to make microwave popcorn, luckily hasn't figured out the 'Start' button. If he wants something he will find a way to get it, child locks only slow him down. Tyler is cute but mischievous, and when he flashes the cutest smile it's hard to stay angry at him for long.
Brent is still busy working at The Blind Depot its been a busy year for them. In church Brent was the Scout Master and got to go to summer camp, again. He may not like camping but he sure has a good time, and the boys really look up to him. This year he go to see one of his former scouts receive his Eagle Scout award, which meant a lot to Brent. Not long ago Brent was released from being Scout Master to accept a new calling of Elders Quorum president (he oversees a group of men at church, and charged with making sure the men and their families are provided for). It's a task he is taking to heart and is doing a fantastic job.
Me aside from my full time job of stay at home mom find ways to keep myself busier. I volunteer at Amanda's school library once a week, I do it mostly for two hours of peace and quiet. Just recently I started watching a 1 year old boy, whose mom works with Brent. He is a cutie, and just started walking. At church I taught the 9 year olds in Primary (or Sunday School) they were challenging at times but it was fun to teach them. As of last week I have been asked to be the Primary Chorister, but here is the kicker I have no musical talent! But this is what makes our church so different, they like to challenge us, put us in positions that we may not have a strong talent. Today was my first go at chorister and it wasn't to bad, but next week we get to work on new songs! Eek wish me luck!
Well I think that sums up 2009 for us, my goal is to do a better job in 2010. See you then.
